~The Art of Social Competence for Young Adults

NEW – FALL 2010!  WATCH THIS SPACE FOR INFORMATION ABOUT OUR NEW YOUNG ADULT SOCIAL SKILLS/LIFE SKILLS PROGRAM!

This fall we are officially unveiling “The Art of Social Competence” social/life skills program for young people in their 20′s. Our services include social skills therapy groups and individual therapy. We work with “high functioning”, verbal adults in their 20′s who are looking to improve social skills and executive functioning so that they can better engage in college, employment , relationships, and, when appropriate, independent living.

This program is a natural outgrowth of 10 years of experience with our groups for children and teens. The young adult groups are a mixture of support group, conversation/hanging-out practice, direct competence-building instruction, and outings in the community for rehearsal. As always, the model is relationship and practice based, so our groups are not time limited blocks with a pre/set curriculum sequence. Instead, the program will be ongoing, year ’round, and social/life-skills lessons are taught to the changing/developing needs of the group. Groups may stay together for a long time, and learn and practice ever sophisticated social rules and nuances. There will still be rolling admission and graduation.

We are a private-pay practice, but may clients get out-of-network insurance reimbursement for our services.
