The Child and Family Art Therapy Center proudly presents friendship groups that help preschoolers develop social skills and social awareness. Our groups are warm, loving, FUN, and success-oriented. In every session there is a brief social lesson, an art activity that structures conversation practice, and free play practice with coaching for deep learning. Proven social communication/social thinking techniques are taught and reinforced with a fun reward system (prizes!). We focus on reading social cues, considering others’ feelings, using “your words”, flexibility, sharing, turn taking, problem-solving, connection, and cooperation. Parents receive feedback at the end of each weekly session to reinforce learning at home. We individualize treatment to the needs of your child by working closely with parents, caregivers an preschool faculty to support your child across the home and school day. Verbal children with a wide variety of social difficulties benefit greatly from our groups.
