The Art of Friendship Social Skills Program
THE ORIGINAL SOCIAL THINKING PROGRAM ON THE MAIN LINE – SINCE 2000
Groups now available in:
Ardmore, Plymouth Meeting, and Paoli, PA
The Art of Friendship Social Skills Program proudly offers a range of groups that help children and teenagers develop social skills and awareness. In the context of structured, therapeutic (and fun) art activities, existing strengths are reinforced, new social skills are taught, and self esteem is built. Elementary aged children experience group art making, recreational activities and discussion of peer interactions in each meeting. Middle and high school age children engage in social skill instruction, conversation and relationship building, role play, and group-selected recreational activities. Verbal and non-verbal children with a wide variety of social difficulties are welcome in the groups. No art talent is necessary to obtain maximum benefit from the program. The “I-LAUGH”© (M.G.Winner) model of social thinking is integrated with behavioral training and developmentally appropriate group activities to promote problem-solving, connection and cooperation. All groups are facilitated by licensed, board-certified art therapists.
